Solo- No, No

I used to be a person that loved working out alone in my home to a pre-recorded workout. It's super appealing with not having to worry about my outfit, not thinking about what to do next since the person in the video has all the answers and no travel time. The workouts where a maximum of 30 minutes long. I could say I put in the hard work and be done for the day.

Boy has time changed. This week I'm forced to work out at home since the afternoons are filled with my occupation and family life. Yesterday morning was my first at home workout. The weights seemed to be harder to carry and the drive I normally have was not as strong. At first I chalked it up to working out on an empty stomach. No carbs, no energy. But there's an atmosphere at the gym that can't be duplicated.

Picture it. You come in for a workout and see people that normally take your class. You chit chat while stretching and secretly are glad you didn't go to the previous WOD because that one looked tough. Everyone picks their weights and the spot they will be working at. The instructor counts down with the ticking timer to begin the workout and the music is raised. People are flinging weight around encouraging themselves and others. When the workout is done, there's fist bumps and "Great job" handed out like candy while people are passed out on the floor from exhaustion. It's pure awesome!

Hebrews 10:25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

There's something about doing life with people whether that's working out or existing. I don't know what I would do without the network of people I'm attached to. Just yesterday I ended up talking to a co-worker that gave me some much needed advice and encouragement about a job change. Last night at music practice, there were words spoken over the team that my heart needed to hear. I have great friends that have different points of view I can lean on. And of course, I have the best gym friends who look at my weights and challenge me or congratulate me.

Gone are the days of being a solo introvert! People are where it's at. Plus I never know who I'm encouraging at this gym called life.
