Last Friday, I had all plans to go to CrossFit for the 9:30 am class but ended up getting to Legion of Power CrossFit way earlier than expected. FitNess class here I come! The assignment was simple:
30 minutes of AMRAP (As many rounds as possible)
9 Power Cleans
8 Push Press
7 Hang Squat Cleans
If you drop the dumbbells in the middle, do 6 burpees.
Dumbbells required were 20 pounds for the ladies.
I was delighted since in 2 months I am doing the Hotshots Fundraiser that will require 6 rounds of 19 power cleans with the bar. Practice is practice…or so I thought.
LPC recently hired a new coach, Coach Sam, and so far his warm-ups are pretty fun. One time, he had us play the fish game on the rower. This time, all attendees were in a huddle, passing a wall ball around while sitting on our bottoms, feet hovering the ground. It was ab-solutely awesome!
Lately I’ve been questioning if starting a business, leaving teaching and being in a state of low income was the right idea. A few weeks ago I applied to a couple of full time jobs at a school yet didn’t even see an interview before finding out they were both filled. The three verses that I’m standing on are:
Isaiah 55:8-9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
Isaiah 41:10 – “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
These promises lead me to say: “ I trust God’s ways are higher than mine. I will not worry, it only causes harm. I am a source of inspiration and encouragement to others. I choose faith over fear in all aspects of my life.” It’s more than a declaration but purposely being in this state regardless of what I’m experiencing.
Fast forward to last Friday’s FitNess Class. We are setting up our weights for the Workout and one lady who is usually in the classes I take stops me to ask about weight selection. Usually she uses 20 pounds to do her workouts but was encouraged to do 25 pounds which seemed extremely heavy. She was asking me because she knew that I am a coach (I think she said personal trainer). To make the long story short, I told her to use the 25 pounds for as many rounds as possible then drop to the 20’s. That way, the next time she can aim for one more round using the 25’s. She ended up using the 25’s for four rounds (I made it two rounds) but she also made me realize that I am a coach in Fitness and Nutrition and though things aren’t favoriable right now, God will continue to guide me. Thanks God for using CrossFit to talk to me:)
