There's a four letter word that gym and exercise lovers hate. One would almost think that this word was never in the gym lover's vocabulary but the truth is the word some how gets lost in all the sweat and hard work and needs to be retaught. This word benefits all aspects of life.
This word can help an individual reduce stress, heal the body, boost creativity, improve productivity and enhance decision making (Forbes.com). If you get enough of it every day, it can help you stay at a healthy weight and boost your immune system. For those of us that are aiming to grow muscle, this word allows fibroblasts to repair microscopic tears in the muscles caused by exercise which produces stronger muscles (healthline.com).
Have you guessed the word yet? It is... rest!
Hebrews 4:10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
This is something I've been working on in everything. At work, I've allowed myself to actually take lunch away from people just for some R & R. Next week I'm going away for four day which does not include exercise (insert crying emoji). On my weekends without the kids I plan something just for me. The hardest thing to find rest in is exercising. I've been forced by my schedule to exercise every other day. And all the benefits I listed are starting to be revealed!
Here's some restful tips:
Take time to be grateful.
Schedule days that you will take a break.
Form rest habits
If God took a day to rest from His work, so will I.
