Dear Self

Losing someone might be less painful as time goes by but there are moments of sadness. This feeling hovered over me yesterday which didn’t make sense since I know that God has a plan for my life and I’m better off with Him than not. There’s so much pent-up emotion that I decided to write the person a letter expressing how I feel since telling them won’t help them or the situation.

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

I was shocked at what I wrote. It was similar to holding a mirror up and taking a glimpse at what I truly felt.

You ever spend months doing a workout and/or changing up your eating only to find that when you look in the mirror, you look exactly the same? Or are you the same? I feel like that especially since it seems like somewhere my body hurts all the time! This week it's my upper trapezoids, neck and shoulders. Each workout isn’t easy and it never is accomplished without great effort. I decided to write myself a letter and though it was short, it was a pleasant surprise to realize that I am proud of myself and wanted to share what I wrote. If it resonates with you, let it be a letter from me to you whether that’s who you are in the present or who you will be.

Dear Self,

I see you. I see all the work you’re putting into to make yourself a better person not just on the outside but in. You’re so hard on you when you should celebrate you. You’re so hard on you when you have to deal with so much crap.

In the gym, you’re a beast. You love it because it reminds you of how strong you really are even though you’re surprised. You know that pain you go through will not just contribute to your growth but confirms that you gave it your all.

Nothing given is worthless and though I might not always see results, I know it’s there or on the way. I’m getting stronger! Believe that and find that.

Love,

Your SELF
