Conditioning

Last week I mentioned that I missed the Fitness class which is all about conditioning. This week I couldn’t pass up a workout that is designed to get the heart pumping. This one I found on pushjerk.com and it did not disappoint though the overhead squats were challenging since my sweaty hands kept slipping across the bar. The whole point of conditioning is to train the body to pump blood efficiently so oxygen can get to the rest of the body while maintaining moderate to intense movement. It makes doing every day task like sweeping and mopping a lot easier.

Conditioning Part 1

8 Rounds for time:

10 Kettlebell Swings 25lbs

10 Overhead squats 45lbs

10 lunges 45 lbs

Goal: 12 min Reality: 16 min 32 sec

Conditioning Part 2

9 minutes AMRAMP:

15 knees to chest

5 power snatches 45lbs

Goal: 6 rounds Reality: 4 rounds + 9 knees to chest

Things I learned from today’s workout:

I know my body and it’s telling me that though I love lifting, I need to keep moving so I’m not getting exhausted. I have a tendency to want to rest when things get hard. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about when in the middle of the workout, you’re adjusting your clothes or getting water or checking the weights. Yeah, those are purely so you can secretly get a rest in.

Colossians 1:11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,

How does this transfer to my faith? Oh trust me. One thing doesn’t go my way and it’s the end of the world. I’m currently shopping for a car since mine got totaled in an accident and it’s been anything but a fun and exciting time. A car isn’t just a car but a mode of transportation that should be enjoyed and not just endured yet my budget is drifting me to a lesser version of what I had though it's younger. The strength I get from God should allow me to endure these situations and more with a quiet calm because I know He will work it all out and He’s already doing it!

I look forward to doing this WOD again so I can see how I’m improving: heart, soul and body.
